In a virtual world, like video games and Second Life, you, the character, are able to walk around, see and hear things like you are actually there. This is a version of 4D. The way technology has advanced has been incredible. I see myself as an explorer, an achiever, as well as a socializer, as I love to discover new things, share about it, level up my understanding and capabilities, and love to build new relationships and connect people through such virtual worlds and technologies.
For me, this kind of technology has allowed me to become more connected to others, and I have been able to further my understanding of my own capabilities, through learning more about virtual life. I have also learned about how therapists are using second life to meet with their clients, to allow a safe and neutral, healing space for those with social anxiety. This also helps for those who work online, creating a sense of peace so they don’t have to leave their homes to go to a physical job.
Cinema, gaming, and all these other forms of virtual worlds and multimedia creations, allows people to take a break from their reality and go into a different place where they can feel inspired. This is what I love so much about multimedia and why I chose my degree program, as it can bring so much joy and inspiration to so many, through another person’s ability to create and be inspired by whatever they decided to create. It is a really beautiful aspect of where we are in out time of technology. I look forward to the growth of it all, as well as my own.
