People watch videos on TikTok and YouTube or other forms of social media, as they are looking to be entertained, and also have a desire to learn new things. I have been creating YouTube videos to bring more healing and awareness around PTSD and other things. One of my focusses has been around nature and how it heals us. As people are watching nature or seeing my talk (and sometimes cry) they can learn and experience my process of healing and growth, while learning more about how to understand others and the struggles we each have in life. This can bring empathy and open minded awareness to those who watch it.
It is easier for people to watch videos to learn certain things, rather than to read a book, as a lot of us are visual learners. Watching a video can be fun and more entertaining and feel more engaging. It is mentally stimulating and bring in sounds and shows examples or more explanations, which is much more stimulating to our brain in different ways.
For me, I love to learn through videos for the visual and audio components, especially if I am on a time constraint, I can zoom through and see parts, rather than sit through the whole thing. I appreciate videos, documentaries and education via these forms as it allows me to also walk or move around, rather than needing to sit.
We each learn differently, and it is wonderful that there are so many forms of education nowadays, which allow different people to gain the education they are seeking, while also being entertained at the same time.
