Biography

Monica is currently a student at Peninsula College. She has been studying to obtain an Associates Degree in Multimedia Communications, with an emphasis on Graphic Design. Within this program there are also many photography classes which Monica has enjoyed taking, as she fell in love with photography as a younger child. The first time she picked up a camera was in Elementary school, and it was at that time that she started winning contests with her sunset photos and images of her cousins. All of these fond memories captured from her childhood summers spent on the beaches of the Outer banks of North Carolina have brought her to where she is today.

Becoming a professional photographer was one of her biggest dreams, along with becoming a published author. She hoped to grow up and find her niche within these two fields of creative expression, and has continue to work hard towards these two goals, and has rarely let these visions from her sight.

Growing up in Northern Virginia, Monica was surrounded by the strong culture and historical places that her family frequently visited. Washington D.C. was just a short drive from her childhood home. Though, the city never truly felt like home to her. Then moving to Washington state at 17, she found a new appreciation for nature, which has truly inspired her and the photography and writings she has moved towards.

Becoming a mother in her early twenties made her focus become et on raising her two children and less so on her own goals and aspirations, but the visions and desires never left her sight. Both of her children have watched her continue to search for her purpose, as she pushed hard to raise them while attending college classes when she could.
