Darkness and Light
Each experience helps us grow.
We can take each interaction with others and allow them each to speak to us.
Sometimes it is a quick lesson.
Sometimes it is one that needs to sit with you for a while.
Though, you can learn something from each experience and from each interaction that can help you grow more, as a soul and as a human being.
Learn and move on.
Don’t let certain experiences hinder you from doing what you know is right for you.
Learn and let go.
Each person must find their own way and explore through life at their own pace.
A grown up might be struggling to move through childhood trauma.
A child might be more mature than their parents.
We can’t expect everyone to act their age or to be at a certain maturity or healing level, just because they have lived a certain amount of years on this earth.
Learning never ends.
Growing is continuous.
Be here.
Wherever you are.
Allow yourself to have peace with where you are and know that you are doing a good job.

So many things left unsaid.
So many troubles lost without an end.
Blank stares after fights.
Lost words, from not enough strength to finish a line.
Builds up over time…
Trying to walk through that dining room with carpets full of piles…
Piles of words swept under the carpet.
Angry arguments left unfinished, just to build up over time, taking up space, draining energy and making you feel out of place.
Carpet piles…
Lost words that were left unsaid…
Feelings that get lost in your head…
Unfinished business, fights stopped short…
Never listening…
Never hearing…
It’s all so draining…
Tears so scattered like the sprayed spit from the nasty words that were yelled.
Stopping before anyone got hurt, but holding on still, enough to keep the pain inside still.
Swept under the carpet, to pull out again in time…
Never really feeling healed.
Always going on like nothing bad was ever said.
Why…
How can things ever heal in time, when they aren’t allowed to be spoken about…
Stop the avoidance.
Make a change, to make a difference.
Emotions are felt and need to be known.
Respect can be given, love can be shown.
Stop the carpet piles.
Acknowledge the hurt.
Understand the pain.
Stop the avoidance and make communication a positive thing.

You hid from me, in your darkness, avoiding the light like it was a plague to end all life.
There was a ghostly presence about you, one that you didn’t understand.
You were a ghost of the night, but you had a kindness in your eyes.
Yet, you only saw your darkness so you feared your fate would be the same.
You came to me for answers.
You came to me for help.
You came to me, calling out, with cries, for you had nowhere else to go.
No-one else could see you, like I could.
Though, I feared you and your darkness, I saw there was a light, within.
There was a light in which you existed, if only for a moment, here and there, it was what helped keep you here.
A darkness like yours could swallow one up.
It could take one down to the deepest oceans, leaving no trace of your existence having ever been.
You have a goodness within you, but to let it grow will take some time.
You will have much work to do, for this darkness is hard to remove.
The fog around you is heavy, as we walk along the beach.
The waves break and reach my feet.
They cannot reach yours, even though you are with me, you are a bit ghostly, an existence that is hovering between worlds.
How did you get this way?
Life must have really been tough on you, to be here, yet not, and without much hope to be found within.
There is hope…
You might not see it, but it is there, and it is waiting for you to see it, too.
I will walk with you.
We can talk.
I will show you your light.
And hopefully, in time, you can see there is more to this life than the darkness, as we make our way down this beach of darkened sand.

You challenged me with your mist.
Along your path, you hissed.
A roar, a flow, a gravitating blow, there was no release to your taunting.
Right by you, I walked.
I could smell you, without an effort or a thought.
As you reached my toes, you bellowed out more of your rough talk.
The thought of following you out, amongst your depths, is still a thought, a very daunting thought that is quite haunting.

As it flows,
Life begins to find a rhythm.
Just as time passes,
Life breezes by.
There are short spurts in which we exist,
Never really seeing it all put together until a while later.
Time is precious.
Life is, too.
As time flows,
Life begins to make sense.

The way we treat others has a big impact on them, as well as showing our truth, or who we are.
Are you short with the wait-staff or with the cashier?
Do you get angry with people on the road, and blame the traffic on them?
Do you see the connection between us all and try to treat others with patience and kindness?
Have you been struggling to see others, especially strangers as regular people who also matter?
Watching so many people disregard others, just because of their life position or their job, or even because they are strangers that they think they will never see again has been devastating to see over the years.
Don’t you know that how you treat others matters?
You have the opportunity, in every experience with others, to share light or to share darkness.
How do you like to feel?
Do you think others want to get treated poorly because you don’t think about the fact that each person has feelings and has a purpose?
We all matter.
That person driving slow on the freeway may have anxiety.
That cashier might be on their 6th day in a row, working overtime because nobody wants to work.
That waitress or waiter may have been dealing with many other grumbling restaurant guests because staff is short and the kitchen is backed up.
These are people who live in this world with us.
We are all struggling, in different ways.
When you bring light, you bring peace.
When you bring darkness, you bring misery.
Don’t you think we have enough misery in this small world?
There are so many ways to help bring more light…
So many ways to help lift others up, so that they can go on with more joy and gratitude in their life.
You are capable of bringing light, if you choose to do so.
Let’s lift one another up and see that we are all important and necessary.
I see you struggling, and I see you knowing that you could be a bit better than how you have been.
We can grow and learn, so we can help bring more light into this darkened world.
Let us find more peace and joy and spread it with each interaction of our days.
In the darkness, we must always bring the light.
