Saying “No”

How is your life going?

Are you happy?

Content?

Could your life use some improvements?

Do you ever find yourself forgetting about yourself and your needs?

Do you need to learn how to say, “no”, more often rather than agreeing to things that are not exactly right for you?

Have you been going through this life on auto pilot, saying, “yes”, because you think its the right thing to do, to make other people happy?

Then its time to learn a new word.

No.

No to things that aren’t right for you…

No to thoughts that aren’t helping you…

No to people or experiences that aren’t right for you…

Learn how to pay attention to how you feel in different situations, or around certain people and with different thoughts.

Do some situations or people drain you or make you feel overwhelmed?

Do you notice physical or emotional changes in yourself around different people, situations or with certain thoughts?

Do you find particular thought patterns becoming overwhelming, or are they weighing you down?

Take a step back and think about why you allow so much into your life that is not good for you.

Once you start doing this, more often, and start saying, “no”, to what is not right for you, you start to learn how to value yourself and your needs, which helps you be able to show up better for your life and for yourself.

This creates more balance in your life.

Doing this allows you to be better for those in your life, who are good for your life, as well.

It also allows you to be better contributor to those around you who are beneficial parts of your life.

You can choose your thoughts.

Thoughts are energy, and what you give more energy to grows, just like watering a plant.

Once you finally become tired of being unhappy, start looking for the root causes of your unhappiness.

You can see trails, like a stream, connecting to certain things that are causing you to feel less than good.

You become tired of constantly being upset with yourself for allowing thoughts and experiences into your life that are harming you, or taking you away from being who you prefer to be, or redirecting you away from where you actually want to go.

Look back over your life.

How many times have you said, “yes”, or, “sure”, when you should have said, “no thanks”, or “absolutely not”?

Has it been a problem, for you, to try to make others happy while neglecting your own feelings or needs?

Have you been ignoring your own needs, and devaluing yourself, while also forgetting what it is that you actually want out of this life?

Yeah, that is tough to acknowledge, isn’t it?

It’s okay, now you are aware of it and now you can do something about it.

Look at yourself.

Who are you?

What are you passionate about?

What makes you feel your best?

What do you do to fill your cup?

Oh, is that not something you do very often?

Do you ever do anything for yourself?

Well, its time to start.

You are the leader in your life.

You matter.

You are important.

Start practicing saying, “no”, and you will see a big shift in yourself, your self-confidence and in how you view yourself and your life.

You will stop taking yourself and your time for granted.

You will see your life start to change in ways that will make you wonder what else you can say, “no”, to.

You will value your healthy friendships more, and you will have less of what you don’t want around.

You will see that your needs matter, and it will show you exactly why.

Take your life back.

You deserve it.

Now start saying, “no”, as often as possible to get comfortable with it.

It might take some getting used to, if you are a people pleaser, who has lived a life of being who you thought you needed to be for everyone except for yourself.

Time to change.

I believe in you, and you should, too.

No, I have nothing else to share, time for me to go fill my cup.

See how easy that was?

Your turn.

Lake Crescent (and the Lodge)

This lake is a magical lake.

The waters heal you.

The sunsets will astonish you.

Lake Crescent is not just a simple lake.

To know her beauty, you must feel her healing.

Summertime is, seemingly, the best time of year to capture her magic, but all year round she will be carrying on…

So many come to see her.

Once they do, they are mesmerized.

With ducks, docks and a shore full of soft rocks, you can be certain to find your favorite spot.

Lake Crescent Lodge is most certainly divine, with luxury dining and quaint little cabins, you will find many ways to pass the time.

There is so much room to roam, plus immaculate sights to see this beautiful lake, from multiple points of view.

If you walk along the forest line, you will find many trails to explore.

These lead you to some of the oldest trees in the state of Washington, or so I have been told, some are over five-hundred years old.

If you’re reading this and need a new place to explore, Port Angeles, WA has this stunning beauty, who’s shores you might enjoy taking some time to explore.

Plus you might even discover the magic of this beautiful lake, that has so many perplexed about.

Either way, hopefully you do get out and find somewhere new to explore.

Nature is magical, no matter where you are.

Weathered

Life has worn out your rough edges.

You’ve been tossed around, now you can’t help but be smooth and still.

You are softer than you once were.

What you are is beautiful.

You always have been.

Overtime, our true nature starts to show.

When life has taken us down to our core, all we can do is be who and what we are.

We are bent and molded into how we need to be for our life.

You lay there with support from all sides.

You have finally found a place to rest.

You deserve it.

Life looks good on you.

Weathered.

Natural.

Real.

Raw.

Trapped

You have been crippled, blocked by your fears.

There seems to be no way out.

All you can see is more that keeps you trapped in fear.

There may be a tall cast iron gate, and a barbed wire fence, but look at what is beyond.

There is a life that you desire, a peace that you deserve, a place where you belong.

Behind these bars of fear is not safe, is what you say.

There is so much out there, beyond this gate.

Look at the sun.

It has to continue to push beyond…

Beyond the sky, beyond the sea,

Beyond the darkness and what it cannot see.

You must, too,

You must push through…

Beyond the fears that keep you trapped here.

Find your way around that gate, for there is always a path from behind the gate of fear.

Driftwood

You have deep scars that not many can see, but you show them all to me.

Many of my scars are showing, but I have others, others that are much deeper, that only you can see.

You try to protect me, as you block the winds and the waves from reaching my open surface.

You carry the weight of so many, as people walk on you so that they can look inside of me, like my wounds are open just for that very purpose.

You seldom leave my side, when the winds blow or someone rolls us apart, you always find a way back to my side.

Nature brought us here, to finish out this life together.

We were both once deeply rooted trees, now here we are, on this shore, waiting for the tides to take us away once more.

-M.

When You are with Me

Play with me in the water,

Lay with me by the sea.

Let’s walk on the sand and wait for the waves, as the tide to comes in.

The sun will set and the air will grow colder,

But when your with me, the cold will not matter.

We will walk hand in hand,

Watching out for crabs in the sand.

We will collect rocks and shells,

There will be so many that our pockets will overfill.

We can pack a picnic and feed the the leftovers to the seagulls,

When you are with me, the days will never, so we can just walk the sandy beaches forever, at peace, hand in hand.

-M.

Big Brother

You are so kind, so sweet, so loving and so very caring.

Whoever knows you, knows that this is true.

Big brother, Noah, you are so wonderful, always there with a helping hand.

What is it about you that makes you so kind?

Maybe its all the giving that you do, the sweet texts or the time you spend helping out those around you who need a helping hand.

When we were growing up, you were always there, for Erich and for me.

You were also teaching us, by example, about kindness and responsibility.

We may have had some disagreements, but you were the sweetest, even back then.

Now we are older and here you are still, always lending a hand or asking if the kids and I are alright.

Noah, thank you.

Thank you for being so nice, for caring, for helping and for showing others how to be kind.

Thank you for being so good at being my big brother and for wanting to always be sure those around you are alright.

I love you.

Magic of the Sunrise

There is a special kind of magic, one that is only in the early hours of the day.

There is silence then slowly, taking its place, there comes this beautiful choir of life.

As the sun begins to rise, a wild magic starts to arrive.

The birds start singing, the branches start to wave and all of a sudden, its a new day.

Everything feels good.

Everything feels fresh.

It seems like anything is possible, oh this, this is the magic of the sunrise.

A new day.

Watching as You Drifted Away

Did you know that I was watching?

I was watching you as you drifted away.

You got on that boat and just like that you were gone, oh how I wish you could have stayed.

I couldn’t sit at home, as your side of the bed felt like the morning chill.

Your warmth had left with you.

All I could hear was the silence of the unmoving air.

Though, I could smell you, it was like you were still here.

Your aftershave stuck around, the scent seemed to be dancing in the air.

It was taunting me, my eyes wanted to fill up with tears.

As your scent was lingering, my body was trembling, holding back so many fears.

You left a sweater, so I put it on, hoping it would help me feel some comfort with you being gone.

I decided to follow your missing shadows, they had followed you when you left, in the early morning hours.

I wandered down to the docks, hoping to catch one last glimpse.

The sun was beginning to rise, it glowed a bright orange, with a background of a cobalt blue sky, a blue that reminded me of your deep wise eyes.

There was no telling which of those moving shadows was yours, I was longing to see into the depths of those deep blue eyes once more.

I felt the tears begin to well up, as I began to realize, there was probably not going to be another chance to say goodbye.

I will wait for you, my dear.

I will wait for you, right here.

Please stay safe, and when you’re done, please come home to me, please return to me from that wide open sea.

Until then, I will be waiting, wearing your sweater and hoping to, once again, feel the warmth of you.

I will wait for you.
